The first issue of the International Journal of Neurology (Volume 1, Number 1, 1959) was dedicated to epilepsy. It included editorials in Spanish and English, as well as key articles on the history of focal epilepsy, the physiopathology of myoclonus, clinical manifestations of epilepsy, and its psychiatric aspects. The issue also discussed modern perspectives on the value of EEG in epilepsy, advances in drug therapy for convulsive seizures, and the role of intracranial surgery in treatment. Additional sections featured reflections on personality, current news, and book reviews.
