Abstract

The double issue (Numbers 3–4) of Volume 3 of the International Journal of Neurology (1962) was dedicated to the effects of radiation on the nervous system. It opened with editorials in Spanish and English, followed by a series of experimental and clinical studies examining how ionizing radiation impacts neural structures, metabolism, and behavior. The articles explored structural and behavioral development after radiation exposure, ultrastructural alterations observed under electron microscopy, and the biological effects of alpha particles in neutron-capture therapy for intracranial tumors. Other contributions addressed electrophysiological responses of sensory receptors, changes in bioelectrical activity, metabolic disturbances, and radiation-induced behavioral effects in vertebrates. The issue concluded with a section on personality, maintaining the journal’s integrative approach to neurological research.
